Mindfulness 101: practical tools for everyday life

Day-to-day life can seem frenetic, with our time, energy and attention being pulled in different directions.
Mindfulness gives us a way to direct our attention and tune in to our reserves of strength and wisdom so we can
- handle stress and challenge more skillfully,
- switch on our body’s relaxation response at will, and
- increase our capacity to feel good (and even great!)
Who is Mindfulness 101 for?
This one-morning class is perfect for those who’ve always wanted to find out more about mindfulness, who think they can’t do it, who’ve used apps and online training but who’d like some face-to-face support, who want to return to a regular practice, or who simply want to have a greater sense of wellbeing.
It’s for beginners, and for those wise ones who keep bringing what’s known as ‘beginner’s mind’.
What will we be doing?
We will be focusing on short, simple, do-able mindfulness practices you can take home with you so that you can focus, calm or nourish yourself whenever you need to. Whether you’ve just woken up, you’re waiting in a shopping queue, or finally get a minute to yourself in the bathroom at work, having a few moments to check in with oneself can make all the difference.
What will I take away from this?
You will leave with
- an understanding of what mindfulness is
- the steps to establishing a regular meditation practice
- a range of simple tools you can apply throughout the day at home or work*.
You will probably also feel calmer, and will have enjoyed the morning getting to know like-minded others.
*A pdf guide of the practices we will cover together will be emailed to you so you can easily replicate what we did in class, in your own time.
What do I need to bring?
You don’t need to bring anything – just an open mind!
We’ll have a break halfway through the morning. Herbal tea will be provided, and you’re welcome to bring a bottle of water.
What happens with bookings, cancellations, refunds or transfers?
Bookings are essential.
Ticket prices include Eventbrite fees.
You may cancel your place and receive a full refund up to seven days before the event. Eventbrite keeps their fee when refunding cancellations.
You are welcome to transfer your ticket to someone else. If you do this, please send through the name and email of the person taking your spot.
A couple of days before the event you will be sent a reminder email with details such as parking, etc.
